Preparing for New York Winter

Snow in New York is often romanticized as the perfect holiday season. In shows and movies, quiet snow flurries, dazzling lights, and vibrant Christmas music accompany pedestrians as they walk amongst each other with the giant Rockefeller Christmas tree in the background, but real life is a much different reality than the movies. Dirty and muddied piles garishly litter sidewalks and corners, often acting as quick bathroom break pitstops or makeshift trash cans and do more to block the pathways for the abundant legs that pass by than garbage on trash day. The threat of icy roads slow the already lethargic pace of New York traffic, and any accumulation of snow must be swiftly removed, except this task takes long as well due to narrow roads and limited space to maneuver the large vehicles, forcing detours and even more traffic congestion.

Despite the challenges to removing these obstacles, the job must be done. As one of the main hubs for civilization, New York's functionality is absolutely essential. Millions briskly move amongst the state, and some even travel internationally into Canada. As such, the work that transportation companies put in are even more important. They are responsible for delivering men and women to their destinations, regardless of how important those areas may be. For them, time is money, and they do their best to ensure they hit the stops on their route in a timely matter. In the winter seasons, this task becomes that much more difficult. Key areas can be closed off due to snow pileups or icy roads, putting the drivers and all passengers behind schedule by a potentially large margin.

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) and the Niagara Frontier Metro Systems (NFTM) is an important transportation company based in Buffalo that facilitates the movement of travelers throughout Western New York. Typically hit hard by snow and ice, Buffalo and NFTM is trying to ensure smooth transportation for the upcoming winter months and are seeking qualified contractors who are able to provide snow removal services for NFTM's light rail track bed area located on the pedestrian mall starting from the Special Events Station to the Portal Entrance at Main and Tupper in Buffalo, New York.

Snow removal services will be provided mainly within the track bed area, but the Contractor may be called upon to remove snow at other NFTM locations such as South Park Yard or the Shop Complex lots as needed.
